This a clock at Harvey Mudd, which I toured today. I wish I also had pictures of the math department, but we walked through it so quickly that I barely had time to look at half the things I wanted to, much less photograph them.
Y’all probably want to skip this paragraph, which is just some high-achieving-first-worlder angst about how I don’t know where to go to college and what to do with my life and should I go to a mathysciency school? and there’s so much pro and so much con and also I don’t do enough extracurricular activity.
Ahem.
During the information session the presenter asked who was interested in math as a major. There were only about twelve prospective students at the presentation, and apparently eleven of them weren’t. I raised my hand.
“Really?”
“Um, yes?”
“Bless you!”
So that was a reaction I wasn’t expecting at a tech school information session.
There was also the part where we toured a robotics lab.
Student: And uh…do you have any questions?
Me: (points) Why do you have a map of Alaska on the wall?
All students: Um. Uh. He-he. Look at that. I don’t know.
Me: (thinking) I really need to talk less.
